Abstract
The analysis of the Adolf Loos Steiner House investigates the spatial interchange between the one-story façade facing the street and the three-story façade towards the garden. The movement through the house follows a path going in and out of the central axis. The motif is transformed into a dynamic three-dimensional composition in the Staten Island House Design where spaces are distributed in a spiraling movement along the central staircase. Alternating between symmetry and asymmetry the design offers a vibrating tension between movement and calm.
